Specifically the gamecube one which he slides into the Wii and then gets two of the gamecube controllers for them before going back to the couch]

[She gingerly accepts the controller before sitting down on the opposite end of the couch, staring down at the bright piece of plastic.]

So, how do I use this?

Well, see, you hold it like this [and then he begins to point out all the buttons] And then you see how all the buttons are labelled like - A, B, X, Y, Z... and you got the C-stick there?

[She nods, paying attention and memorizing his words as if they were very important.]

Then these things on the triggers are L and R. You think you got them?

Yes, I believe that I understand that, but what is the point of this game?

Oh. ...Let's open it, it'll be more obvious.

[And with that he picks up the wiimote to go to the corner of the menu and click on the gamecube icon. This opens up the Mario Kart game in there, getting us to the flashy main menu and opening video thing.]

[She's still not sure what the purpose of it is, even after the opening sequence. She can sort of guess that it's some sort of racing thing, but the characters are oddly cartoonish (hehe) and their vehicles make no sense to her.]

So, we are to race around on the courses as some of those characters?

Yeah, see, told you that you'd get it! [And he laughs this odd, now going to select a 2 player race. So they can enjoy it in all the split screen glory. And select characters-- or well, he intends, but he realizes that he should probably load the screen which says the controls for this came specifically.

Thank you [She reads the instruction screen carefully, committing the details to memory.] So, who would suggest that I select? [If you leave it to her, she's choosing Bowser, because he's big.]</small.

Well, some of them are faster or slower or can do better turns and stuff... [he says this while talking things out, but he points to some examples of each in turn. Like for example Yoshi for being quick]

[After a few moments of serious contemplation, Hinata selects the green dinosaur thing. She's ready, Rin. Better choose your own!]

[And with that, we begin the countdown for the race to start. Beep, beep...]

[Her first attempt at Mario Cart is clumsy and she has trouble using the shells adequately, despite the fact that she paid attention. However, she finds it amusing and by the end of the race (which she lost terribly), she's wearing a huge smile and has forgotten to be self-conscious at all around Rin.]

That was...different! I never thought that I would find losing as much fun as coming in first place.

[Rin himself is only in like fourth because there was a blue shell right towards the end. such is life. But-]

Right! It's really fun to do with with a bunch of friends!

Oh. [That wasn't something she'd considered before.]

Yes, I think that many of my friends would enjoy playing something like this.

That is something to keep in mind. What else can we do with these...video games?

Oh, all sorts of stuff - I'm not a big gamer or anything, but even I know some of the other stuff we've got here.

What type of games do you prefer then? I spent a lot of time as a child practicing my martial arts, so I am not very well versed in games.

[She flashed the boy at her side a slight smile.]

Although, I always wished I was brave enough to join the other children in my village.

Honestly, no one really liked me all that much when I was younger, so most've what I have play'd been solo or with my brother or something. [Which he doesn't sound at ends about. He can't... blame them. His temper caused him to be ostracized, and that's on him.

Either way, he thinks about it...] I guess I just kinda did stuff like... Uh, well. Honestly, I'm more used to portable system stuff, but really, everyone has fun with Brawl, which they got here.

[She nods in sympathy. It wasn't that she was mean or rude as a child, just that she was shy and too quiet with an overbearing father for the other children to bother to reach out to her.]

Then that is something we shall have to do later with more people, yes?

Heheheh, definitely. That one's a blast when you get a group've people.
