Although, her older brother's mention of Sasuke's rank in the school's hierarchy makes her naturally pale skin got even lighter.]

Y-yes... Neji is also on the team as a running back, but Sasuke Uchiha is the quarterback.

[Making him the "king" of the school, with her brother right behind him. And she was there with Neji, not for her skill on the cross country team, but for her stellar academics and her position as class president.]

[He hated seeing his sister so distressed over anything, and he knew how protective she was over their brother. In his mind, it was a natural reaction...

[His smile does help her to calm down again, but she knows that she will have a difficult time of things once Sasuke decides to strike back.]

[Admitting that felt like a heavy burden being lifted from her shoulders. She's never liked Sasuke. There was always something about him that she found irritating.]

[If Sasuke ever decided to strike back. Barnaby planned to keep the young man under his watch for the time being-- just to see what would happen.]

...sometimes it's a good idea to trust your instincts, especially about people. There's always a chance that they could be hiding something that we just don't know yet.

[She snorts uncharacteristically and speaks before she can stop herself.]

[Barnaby huffed, amused by the outburst.]

Just don't be so quick to think that the rest of the year is ruined because of this. It sounds like he's had it coming for a while.

I...Perhaps, but it was not my place to make sure that it occurred. Especially not in the way that I did it.

No, that's not necessarily the case. Neji is our brother...and, sometimes people like Sasuke need to be given a hard lesson.

[That's certainly something that hadn't occurred to her before now. She was used to the power that their father threw around so easily.]
